News from East District - 13/08/24

Geoff Paice

Founding member of the NNW, Geoff Paice, has passed away at the age of 92. Geoff was time-keeper at club events until lack of mobility prevented him so doing 4 years ago.

He raced with some distinction in the 1950's and 60's with the Norwich Amateurs, for example holding their club '100' tt record for decades until about 10 years ago.

National 12 hour - Marshals and Timekeepers

On the 18th August C C Breckland on behalf of EDCA and CTT are organisers for the RTTC National 12 hour TT.

For this event to happen and be successful we need the help of District clubs and riders, we need approx. 35 marshal's and 10 timekeepers.

If you can spare some time and help, marshalling slots are 3 to 4 hours longs and spread out across the event.

Brian Boxall

It is with great sadness to report that VC Baracchi Chairman Brian Boxall passed away on Christmas morning.

Brian was the leadership figure of VC Baracchi and will be sadly missed. He encouraged everyone, from the young to the old, to enjoy cycling and cameraderie as he always did himself.  In his time he was for many years an active and successful club cyclist too (a 58-minute man when it was not commonplace).

CTT National 10 (2023)

In the Junior/youth mens event, Oskar Everett recorded 21:59 for 13th place overall, but was 1st Juvenile.

In the Womens Junior event, Abbey Thompson of Stonham Barns Park-SYRT recorded  26:07 and 4th place (3rd Juvenile).

In the Mens event on Sunday 3rd September, Joseph Shaw - (Ipswich BC) finished in 70th place with a 22:02. Looking at Joseph's results on CTT, that may be a PB by over 1 minute !

Julian Farrall

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Julian Farrall. A true gent who will be sorely missed, Julian was loved by all for his generosity, unwavering style and great company on the bike.

Alan Hale

It is with regret that we announce the death of Alan Hale. Alan raced under the colours of numerous clubs over the years, and always approached his TT events with the mind set and aero position to gain the last second.
